We are pleased to offer this map, originally created exclusively for the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Wine Marketing Program, to all Texas wine enthusiasts.
Great wine starts in the vineyard. With 8 AVAs, Texas has ideal geography, soils and climate for growing exceptional wine grapes. Texas is bigger than France, offering a wide diversity of grapes from warm-climate Mediterranean varieties to cooler climate grapes that enjoy the state’s higher elevations.
Texas is home to the third largest AVA in the country, the Texas Hill Country, which boasts rolling hills, pristine creeks, and limestone, granite, clay and sandstone soils. The majority of Texas grapes, however, are grown in the Texas High Plains, with calcareous soils, rich red sand and clay over caliche, and elevations over 4,000 feet.
From grapes to glass, Texas offers a wide range of wine varieties and styles that reflect the beauty of the Lone Star State.
This map identifies Texas grape growing regions and faithfully replicates their unique topography in true raised relief. It makes great gift and is available either unframed, poster style, or mounted and fully framed as wall art. Framed maps arrive ready to hang in a sleek black anodized aluminum frame.
