We are pleased to now offer this small wine map, originally created exclusively for the Washington State Wine Commission, to all lovers of Washington state wines.
Great wine begins with nature—and Washington is blessed with a climate and soil structure that produces some of the best fruit in the world across 14 distinct AVAs. Two mountain ranges create a rain shadow effect that protects the Columbia Valley from wet weather systems, resulting in a perfect climate for growing grapes in the warm and dry eastern part of the state. This region benefits from over 300 days of sunshine annually.
With 59,000 acres planted, the state has ideal geography and conditions for growing premium vinifera wine grapes. While wine grape growers in Washington focus on Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah, the region also produces a wide range of other spectacular white and red wines. Washington is now home to more than 1,000 wineries—and it’s just getting started.
This small map identifies the state's growing regions and replicates the topography in miniature, making it a fun and affordable gift. This small map is available framed and ready to hang in a modern black aluminum frame or poster style (unframed) for tacking to a wall or bulletin board. You can also attach the unframed map to a sturdy foamboard and display it on a tabletop easel.
